Nude lippies

For the past few weeks I've been on the quest for the perfect nude lippie.

It's kinda hard to find the perfect one for my skin since most of the nude lippies (when you approach the salesladies) are better suited for skin tones a couple of steps darker than mine and well I'm too pale for any of them. When I do find a lippie that's sort of "nude", they will recommend the pink lippies and the first few tries were always the baby pink type of nude (MAC's Angel and Revlon Lacquer Balm in my previous post).

As seen above, the effect is nearly the same but MAC's is a bit brighter and more baby pink in better lighting.

So I set out to find more nude lippies aside from my L'oreal, Revlon Lipstick, and Revlon Colorburst one. So to recap:

1) I have Revlon Creme 125 Nude Velvet and it's nude-ish with pink but it's still a bit dark to be the nude that I am looking for, but "nude" enough to be great for everyday use! The look it has on me is a bit more brownish compared to the next L'oreal one

2) I have the L’oreal BP401 Beige Sienna and the effect is a brownish peach good for everyday looks.

3) I have the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter 095 Creme Brulee although I don't have a picture of wearing it alone yet. And the effect is a little too tan for my taste and the color's very sheer so I swipe it across my lips a lot to get a somewhat opaque color.

So I still haven't found THE nude lippie and--

I finally found the lipstick!

This week I got to buy 2 lippies and one of them is what I think is my nude lippie.

The two lippies are:
Misslyn 06 Mannequin
Misslyn costs P559.00 in Watsons, and it is available in selected SM Dept Stores and Watson branches.
Very creamy formula and has a sheer shimmering finish and can be built up to have an opaque color but, like the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter, it needs a lotta swipes just to get the opaque color.
The finish is nude-ish and perfect for everyday but the color's too close to my lip color (which you will see later) so I couldn't dub it as THE nude lippie I'm looking for.

GOSH 134 Darling
I personally dub it as THE nude lippie I am looking for.
GOSH Lipstick costs P599.00 and is available in selected SM Dept Stores and Watson branches.
Very very creamy formula, much like the NYX lipsticks and I sort of bent it when I was applying it on my lips so be careful should you chose to buy this lippie.
Has a matte-ish finish.
Some people will find it too pale and make them look sick but since I'm very very pale, it doesn't have that effect on me (imo). I can probably recommend this to people with my skin tone.

For the swatches: (Misslyn on top, GOSH below)

Below are pictures of what it looks like when worn. I refused to take a full face pic since my hair looks horrible-- well, I look horrible.

So for the before look: No lippie!

Here's Misslyn in Mannequin:

And here's GOSH in Darling:

It looks a bit awkward in the photo but over-all I like the effect on me :) I think it's the lippie I'm looking for and I look forward to finding out how long it'll last when worn.

Makeup Adventures March-April '14

FINALLY! Summer vacation and as usual, I've been slowly draining my wallet of money.

I'd been initially planning a room makeover but um considering my slowly thinning wallet I'll probably not push through with that anymore. I did fix my room! Fixed my dresser and majority of my closet. (Speaking of my closet I need cotton shirts and shorts since my closet consists of 90% polyester prolly thanks Forever21.)

Anyway so I managed to buy the following :)

(I will be updating my masterposts of lipsticks and foundations too, btw!)

Revlon Colorstay 150 Buff Chamois

I was breaking out using my L'oreal True Match and also my L'oreal Lucent Magique and I want to give this one a try

The picture above doesn't completely capture the color of the foundation properly. It looks much more fleshy in the photo but irl, it's really really pale and I was shocked that I got that shade when the salesgirl matched me to it but it blended and matched my skintone fine.
(Gods, I'm that pale.)

Location and Price
I got this in Wellworth in Fairview Terraces for P825.00. It's available in all Watsons, and other Department stores.

Packaging
The packaging is simple and this one is a lot lighter compared to the cream version of the Colorstay.

Formula, Coverage, Blending
The formula feels lighter than the cream Colorstay. As shown in the pictures below, the small amount can give light coverage for that side of my hand. It can be built up to medium and possibly heavy coverage, and can be easily blended.

Finish and Wearing Time
I am still unsure of the wearing time since I haven't tried it out but I will update it in the Masterposts. Finish is dewy.

For the lipsticks, here are the swatches and I'll start from left to right.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter 095 Creme Brulee

When I bought the Revlon foundation and the Revlon Lacquer Balm (the next item), I got this for free!
Original price is at P525.00 and available in Watsons, and Department Stores.
I have the Pink Colorburst and the formula is the same, giving a very sheer nude color and it takes a lot of swipes to get a distinct color on the lips. Finish is shimmery.

Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm 105 Demure (Reservee)

Bought at P575.00 in Wellworth, but also available in Watsons and Department Stores.
Very creamy formula, giving a nice nude-pink color perfect for everyday and takes a couple of swipes to get decent color (it's a bit too close to my lip color so I need to swipe a lot to have a distinct color). Finish is also glossy/shimmery.

Collection 2000 Color Pout Lasting Lip Stain
in 2 Kiss
in 5 Pout

Bought at The Ramp Crossings Collection 2000 stand. Available in other The Ramp outlets and Landmark.
I neglected to note how much they were.
Lip stains in a nude pink and cherry red. Still unsure how long it will last since I haven't used it yet.

MAC Lipstick A43 Angel

I was out looking for the Creme de Nude however the Landmark branch of MAC didn't carry it and the salelady said it was only available in the US but I'll look out for it in other branches.

Bought at P1000.00 at Landmark MAC branch.
Creamy formula, like the L'oreal nude lipstick I recently purchased.
Staying power is strong, around 5-6 hours.
Frost finish, as said on the lipstick. I wear it often and to see how it looks like when worn, picture is below. In better lighting, the shade is a brighter pink, almost bordering barbie pink.
As usual, my lips dry a bit after using lipstick so the top layer peels.

Freshlook Colorblends Brilliant Blue

Sadly, something bad happened to my contacts.
My nails were growing too long and I completely forgot that my contacts are fragile so when I pinched to take the contacts off, I kind of creased the center and I tried rubbing it to make sure it wasn't dirt and then I kind of ripped it in half.
Lesson learned: cut my nails especially when I have to wear contacts.

So I dropped by Ideal Optical Saturday afternoon, ordered a pair of Freshlook Colorblends contacts in Brilliant Blue in the grade of -5.50 for my right and -6.00 for my left, and I managed to pick the pair up Sunday lunch time.

Same price, P1195 on its own without a contacts container and good thing I was able to buy a case in Landmark the other day for P40.00.

I tried taking a picture with my Photobooth but the lighting was so inadequate and was unable to capture the color properly.

So I took photos with my iPhone 5C front camera. And I apologize for how sabaw I look and haggard.

So compared with the True Sapphire, True Sapphire was like a darker shade of blue and the part closer to the center has bits of brown, while the Brilliant Blue (if you scroll up above in my pictures of the contacts) has a bright blue center.

So I decided to wear the two for comparison.
(I'm sorry I look so deranged and cray-cray in the photos but I had to widen my eyes so that you guys can see since my eyes are really small and they disappear when I smile)

The right eye is the Brilliant Blue.
The left eye is the True Sapphire.

I am so sorry I look cray-cray.

So! Evidently Brilliant Blue looks-- erm, well, a more brilliant blue compared to True Sapphire. Both contacts perform the same, as usual.
Freshlook contacts are comfortable the first few wears but I noticed that as time passes, the performance of Freshlook is nearly the same as Flex Wear.
I can't wear contacts, of any brand, past 5 hours without feeling that my eyes are growing tired. My eyes dry up in Freshlook after 2-3 hours (though my eyes are actually drier than average according to my ophthalmologist due to computer usage) so I have to have my drops on hand.
I wear my contacts nearly the whole day and there was a time I'd been wearing my contacts for 12 hours and I had to take it off by the 10th hour to rest my eyes, and my eyes were growing red by that time.

I've noticed that my eyes dry faster with Freshlook compared to Flex Wear, but Freshlook's colors pop more compared to Flex Wear. I would love to switch back to Flex Wear so I don't have to spend so much (for P1200, Flex Wear sells contacts that last a year, whereas Freshlook only lasts for 3 months) but Flex Wear's colors are too natural for me. I am aware there are Flex Wear contacts with the more vivid colors and they even have those doll eye lenses that I like so much but sadly, they don't carry my grade range.
